As a coach, and as a fellow mom, prior OBGYN and someone in recovery, I bring:
Clinical authority, trauma-informed experience, real world postpartum expertise to help other moms through their own personal journeys.
We take into consideration your past history and medical history, your cultural background, your wants and desires, your priorities and your plans and bring them together to get you to a new and better place.
I help to provide safety, identity rebuilding (or restructuring), and embodied healing to the experiences that shape how we see ourselves as humans, as partners, and as mothers, whether it is your first child or your last.
My commitment is to meet you where you are at, and work from there. You are absolutely deserving of this!
I bring the context and history and experiences of one woman of color and a woman who is part of the LGBTQIA community which can greatly impact and affect the care we receive as people and as moms.

Your Questions, Answered

No. This should in no way be a replacement for the medical care that you have been or are receiving by your OBGYN or psychiatric provider. I use my background as a prior OBGYN to assist me in caring for and supporting you but I am not your medical provider in that capacity and I would always encourage you (with love) to make sure you are being followed by one. I am also not a therapist but have several good recommendations and community resources and can help you find someone if you are looking for one.
-
Absolutely. I know that coping mechanisms used during our prior lives can really rise to the surface with all the stresses of new or repeat motherhood. My own journey in addiction and recovery give me a different perspective from what you might encounter in a coach without that history.

Sessions are 1-3 hours at a time depending on your needs. I like to have enough time to get to know you and your situation and really tailor each appointment to the individual in order to help them through this process. Shorter half hour sessions can be added on once I have met with you, if desired.

I would be lying if I said No Way! But homework will be focused on your particular needs and desires and won’t feel like I’m piling on more to your pile. The goal is to make it easier, not harder on you. Its my job to do what I can to help get you through the difficult parts until you are feeling more confident and healed enough and you’ve got a solid plan in place to get yourself where you want to be. My job is to back you up while you rise. Everyone has a different definition of when they don’t need a coach anymore. This has to work for you!
-
Absolutely and I would hope you are able to, but if things are complicated, let’s chat.

I once apologized for crying when talking about some hard things with a friend. This wise friend told me that “Tears are just stress, leaving the body”. And if you cry, then you are absolutely among friends and you are probably doing it right.
